What is X-ray inspection?

In a radiographic examination, one uses X-rays, which have the property of penetrating solid materials.
They are electromagnetic radiation, just like, for example, visible light.

Radiography can be used on all materials and is independent of the material’s magnetic and electrical properties.
It can be used anywhere you want to see what is inside an item. For example, to check for internal defects or assembly errors (e.g., flaws in welding, soldering, riveting, or bonding). It can also be used to investigate what is inside an item—whether something has become stuck in a hollow part or is misaligned, etc.

You can also perform dimensional measurements, for example measuring wall thicknesses in pipes and cylinders in hydraulic systems. With special flash X-ray tubes, items in rapid motion can be examined as well, such as engines.
