Duplex Wire IQI for Industrial Radiography – ISO 19232-5 / EN 462-5 Compliant
Optimize your radiographic testing with the Duplex Wire IQI, an essential accessory for measuring image unsharpness in non-destructive testing (NDT). Specially designed for evaluating and monitoring the performance of radioscopic (real-time X-ray) systems, this tool provides precise and repeatable results.
In compliance with EN 462-5 and the upcoming CEN standard prEN 13068, its use will be mandatory in specific applications, ensuring consistent quality control in industrial radiography.
Each IQI includes:
- 13 , 15 or 17 wire pairs made of high-purity platinum and tungsten, embedded in rigid plastic.
- Precisely spaced wires matching the diameter of each pair, enabling accurate assessment of system unsharpness.
- A clear indication of image sharpness based on how many wire pairs remain visually distinct—higher unsharpness causes wires to blur into a single image.
All IQIs are:
- Individually engraved with a unique serial number.
- Delivered in a protective storage box with instructions and a Declaration of Conformity.
The EN 462-5 Duplex IQI is a direct replacement for the former BS 3971 Model IIIA and CERL B designs. It is the only duplex wire IQI in the EN 462 series, offering a recognized and standardized solution across Europe.
The lead marker reads END (submitted to CEN/TC 138 for official approval), ensuring traceability and compliance with European NDT standards.
