What is a Videoscope?
A videoscope, in some cases also called an endoscope, borescope/boroscope, or inspection camera, can be used for many purposes. When a visual inspection needs to be carried out inside pipes, boilers, cylinders, engines, reactors, heat exchangers, turbines, and other items with narrow, inaccessible cavities and/or channels, the videoscope is an important, not to say indispensable, instrument.
The videoscope is a further development of older borescopes and fiberscopes. It operates on a principle where the image is captured by a small electronic sensor that transmits signals to a video processor, from which the image is sent to a monitor/display. The electronic sensor is positioned at the end of a flexible light guide cable, which can be supplied up to 30 m long and with a diameter down to 2.5 mm.
