Ultra-portable phased array scanner for corrosion mapping

Krautkrämer PAXYS from Waygate Technologies is designed for fast, repeatable corrosion and wall-thickness mapping. It combines X/Y encoding, phased array technology, and a sub-1 kg scanner design in a system for efficient single-person inspection.

Faster, more repeatable NDT inspections

PAXYS provides a practical transition from point-by-point manual UT measurements to an encoded scanner workflow. X/Y position tracking records movement in both axes and provides a more consistent inspection dataset.

Field-ready for one operator

The scanner, water-feed pressure bottle, and a lightweight Windows tablet can fit into a single backpack, making the system well suited to work where portability and simple deployment are critical.

Connectivity and a future-ready platform

PAXYS connects through standard USB and works with standard Windows 11 tablets, laptops, and desktops without proprietary hardware using Acquire Software. Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity on the connected computer can support data collection, storage, and analysis on customer networks, while a commercial tablet can be used to capture on-site photos for the final report.

Its modular architecture and interchangeable probe modules are designed to extend the platform across additional ultrasonic inspection applications over time.

comPAct technology

Patented comPAct technology significantly miniaturizes the PA electronics. Compared with traditional PA instruments, it reduces PA-electronics volume and weight by up to 100 times and decreases power consumption by 20 times.

The low power demand allows PAXYS to be powered through a standard USB connection and is a key part of the scanner's compact design.
